I don't have the save for the previous screenshot anymore, but the 2.0 damage on the arm was the 2.0 bleeding damage on the torso. Here is a halved one that's not a whole number: Here the leg took a 1.9 damage non-mitigated scratch: Where did you get 3.6 from? Pretty sure the max damage is close to 2.6. Note that halved damage hits aren't described differently, they'll still claim that they cut you. Apply Damage deals 5 damage and I saw 2.0 and 3.0 damage hits). rat scratch does 3.6 damage, so a 2.0-damage hit means it was halved (it seems that halved damage hits only deal whole number amounts from my own testing with Apply Damage. With shoulder, they still do not look protected: Originally posted by glass zebra:Edit: Okay I attached the bionics to the arms and not shoulders. It seems both bionics may still have arm hit zones and that multihits can carry over full damage to body parts that should not be able to take that full damage. I also got mitigated hits on bionics+torso hits. I got full sharp damage hits on the torso if unprotected legs also got hit. what am I doing wrong here? So far it seems as if a hit that hits multiple body parts does full damage to all body parts if one of the body parts had no protection.Įdit 2: I did a bug report after some more tests. Shoulders and arm both got full damage hits: Įdit: Okay I attached the bionics to the arms and not shoulders. It seems flak vests do not protect bionics or the shoulders at all: ![]() Outside of RP saves where I stay at like a tribal or medieval tech level permanently, I never use plate armor. Often the first piece of armor I craft in a save is marine armor. It's too easy to tech well past plate armor before you even really need to start worrying about armoring your colonists up. In theory plate armor is "useful" early game, in practice I think it actually serves a similar purpose as Pilas and that is to be something for enemies to spawn with that isn't particularly good but is still functional equipment. It's worth noting that a flak vest will protect bionic arms, but not fleshy ones. Likewise a flak vest and a devilstrand or thrumbofur duster/cape can be safer and more mobile than marine armor, but again at a cost to leg protection. There are some edge cases, as mentioned plate armor protects the legs just as well as the vital parts, while flak has virtually no leg protection, but being safer from death to a shot to the heart or neck makes flak more worthwhile to wear generally. This is represented by resource costs, tech requirements and protection. For the most part Plate < Flak < Marine < Cataphract. The movement speed penalty is very noticeable too.Īrmor is pretty tiered. It's useable but too nichey I'd say, unless you are willing to use plasteel for the plate which makes it quite a bit better. Plate armour can be pretty good for a while, but if you already have access to flak, I would just skip that - even with melees. Protecting arms and legs and/or having blunt protection is a lot more important for melees than for ranged people. In melee combat you gonna either face a lot of blunt damage (centipedes or melee bound ranged humans) or if you don't manage to stop melee enemies otherwise: sharp damage that can slash over the entire body. Thrumbofur duster are pretty good at protecting arms and lags against sharp damage (very close to steel plate armour), but do pretty much nothing against blunt damage. The problem is that flak vests do not protect the arms and legs and the flak jacket/pants are pretty bad at this this too. Flak is a bit better in blunt protection and vastly superior in sharp protection vs steel plate. ![]()
